Surrounded by the beautiful green gardens and enticing foliage, the Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen is a sight worth seeing. Standing majestically on the Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire, the castle has been the Scottish residence of the British Royal Family ever since Queen Victoria bought it in 1852 following a vacation spent in the original castle. Once bought, it was decided that the castle was far too small for residency and the Queen commissioned the addition of the present castle nearby to the original structure. Under the supervision of her consort, Prince Albert, the present Balmoral Castle was constructed with near-white limestone produced by the quarries of Glen Gelder.

The gardens, which span over 50,000 acres, are beautifully maintained by the Royal Family. The residence is currently the favoured summer home of the present Queen. Plans have been made to further extend and maintain Balmoral Estate as well as its neighbouring beauty.

The castle’s grounds, gardens and ballroom are open to the public at occasions when the royals are not in the premises. The castle ballroom displays beautiful figurines in silver, fine art and delicate porcelain trinkets amongst the likes of the Ball Gown collection on display, which were worn by Her Majesty the Queen and the late Queen Mother. Apart from these mentioned, a short film portraying the Royal Family is also displayed.

The Balmoral Gardens are a breathtaking spectacle for not only are they ardently kept, but also offer many attractions amongst the wonderland of foliage. Whether it is the conservatory or the Garden Cottage, or even the fountain, the gardens are maintained to upkeep the beauty of what used to be during the era of the late Queen Victoria. Another highlight of the Balmoral Gardens is the impressive rose garden, which further complements the beauty of an already breathtaking castle.

The Balmoral Castle, which stands alongside the River Dee, is a revered monument of Aberdeen UK. Hotels such as the Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen offer cosy and comfortable accommodation coupled with warm hospitality and quality services.
