The Centenary Square is a premier attraction in the vibrant city of Birmingham that was established in 1989 to commemorate Birmingham's status as a city. Exuding an eclectic air of artistry, the Square is an artistic masterpiece that was designed by artist Tess Jaray. The paving, lamps, railings and buildings that form the Square reflect the grandeur nature of the site. There are several sculptures and buildings at the Square that are worth exploring, making it a popular tourist attraction in the city.

At the centre of the Centenary Square stands a majestic fountain titled the 'Spirit of Enterprise' which contains 3 heads that are meant to signify the important areas of enterprise, industry and commerce. Upon exploring the Square, visitors will undoubtedly catch sight of the gold gilded statue of James Watt, Mathew Boulton and William Murdoch. This statue due to its golden hue and unique posture is sometimes referred to as 'The Golden Boys' and 'The Carpet Salesmen' statue. Other important sculptures in the area include the 'Industry and Genius' statue of John Baskerville that stands just outside the historic Baskerville House in the Square.

Various buildings of cultural significance are also located within the Centenary Square. Providing a beautiful view of the Square, the International Convention Centre, which is a well reputed conference venue in England, is located here. Within its premises lies the famous concert venue known as the Symphony Hall. The Square also houses the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, otherwise known as the Birmingham Rep, which is a famous theatre and theatrical company in England. Before leaving the Square, be sure to visit the Hall of Memory structure that commemorates the thousands of lives that were lost during the First World War.
