Location & Attractions|Cardiff City CentreQueen Street is most famous for housing the Queen Street Arcade. This shopping arcade is targeted primarily at women and offers a range of clothing, jewelry and other accessories but also sells products like toys as well as providing several dining options. Those looking for the vibrant nightlife of the city of Cardiff need not look any further than St. Mary’s Street. This stretch of road is home to a range of nightclubs, bars, and restaurants including the Hard Rock Café. The Hayes is the street that houses a range of department stores including Howells, St David’s Hall, and Spillers Records. It was at one time home to a historic landmark, David Morgans department store, but since its closure the building has been divided into several smaller retail spaces while its upper floors have been converted into 56 luxury apartments. Caroline Street has been in the past home to a variety of different shops but in more recent times has become dominated by a variety of food outlets including fish and chip shops and kebab outlets. It is because of these stores that the road is sometimes referred to as chip lane, chip alley and chippy lane. Other non shopping related venues that are housed in this area include several churches that lend their architecture to the already impressive cityscape, and several structures that belong to the University of Cardiff. When visiting Cardiff for its vast and plentiful shopping opportunities, staying in one of the hotels near Cardiff city centre such as the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff Caerdydd presents easy access to make shopping convenient and hassle free. |
