The Museum of Welsh Life is Wales’ premier heritage attraction and is one the foremost open air museums in Europe. Housed on 100 acre parkland this museum is dedicated to showcasing the culture of Wales and its rich heritage.

Over the last 50 years a variety of different structures from all over Wales have been recreated or moved inside the extensive parkland. Some of these structures include a farm, school, chapel and a Workmen’s Institute. The workshop actually features individuals who display the traditional arts and their produce is usually available for sale.

Livestock that is native to the area can also be seen grazing in the fields as well as individuals who demonstrate the traditional farming methods that were used in the area. Another part of Welsh heritage that is preserved here is the Welsh language that is used by the workmen and interpreters at the museum.

The Museum of Welsh Life also houses galleries that feature exhibitions of traditional costumes, farming implements and daily life. There are also special exhibitions that are held on a regular basis on varying themes. Throughout the year there are also several festivals, music and dance events that are held at the museum that truly bring this traditional venue to life.

The museum presents an exciting journey from the traditional lifestyle to the industrialized Wales of today. Visitors to this museum are privy to a view of an all encompassing picture of the Welsh way of life in the past, present and even the future.

Of the hotels in Cardiff Wales, the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff Caerdydd provides its guests with an ideal location that is not only close to the Museum of Welsh Life but several other attractions in the areas as well.
