Your Wedding Day is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and important days in your life.  With its unique lakeside location, the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff provides the ideal venue for your perfect day.

Whether you are arranging an intimate family gathering, or a lavish reception for up to 220 guests, our experienced, professional team will do their utmost to ensure your day is perfect.  When your big day comes, you can be sure that you, your family and friends will experience a truly wonderful day.

Ceremonies and Celebrations

Our gift to you includes:

  • A personal red carpet  welcome for your wedding party
  • A beautiful lakeside location for your wedding photographs
  • Professionally presented table plan (menu & place cards can also be provided at an additional charge)
  • Complimentary room hire both day and night for your ceremony & reception (subject to minimum numbers)
  • Use of our silver, square, wedding cake stand and knife
  • White table linen (coloured linen can be arranged at an additional charge)
  • Silver candelabras with white candles (colour co-ordinated candles can be arranged at an additional charge)
  • Complimentary accommodation for the Bride and Groom on their wedding night in a Connoisseur bedroom, complete with Champagne Breakfast the following morning
  • A member of the Hotel's Management team to personally supervise the day's event, and act as Master of Ceremonies if required
  • Special accommodation rates for your guests
  • Free parking for all your guests

Ceremonies 

We have 5 rooms that are licensed for wedding ceremonies:

The Castell Suite licensed for up to 200 seated guests
The Coch Suite licensed for up to 100 seated guests
The Caerdydd Suite licensed for up to 100 seated guests
The Chepstow Suite licensed for up to 40 guests
The Glamorgan Suite licensed for up to 100 seated guests


  • Ceremonies can be held any time between 8:00am and 6:00pm
  • You need to book your ceremony directly with the local registry office.  The exact content of your ceremony to be planned by you and agreed with the Registrar

  • We suggest that couples provide 2 ushers per 50 guests

Room Hire Charges

For a wedding ceremony in one of the above rooms a venue hire charge of £250 will apply.

Planning Your Event

Booking Procedure
A date can be provisionally held for 2 weeks. To confirm your booking, a deposit of £1,000 is required.  Three months prior to your wedding a 50% deposit of the likely charges is then required, with the final balance being payable one month prior to your wedding.

Minimum Numbers
For the Castell Suite a minimum number of 80 adult guests are required to be catered for the wedding breakfast and 120 guests for the evening buffet.  Should your numbers fall below this requirement then a room hire charge is applicable.

Menu
You may compile your own menu by selecting your preferred options from the menu selector (please contact us for the menus).  We are able to cater for most dietary/cultural requirements but advise one menu for everyone.  If you would prefer something that is not included in our selection of menus then please enquire, as our Chef will be happy to create a bespoke menu for you.

Cake Stand and Knife
We provide a 14-inch square cake stand and knife.

Licensing
Our bar can remain open until 12:30am with the entertainment finishing at 1:00am.

Suggested Format
Cutting of the cake usually takes place after the main course; dessert is then served and cleared.  Coffee, cake and wine for toasting is then served.

Disco/Entertainment
Our resident DJ and Disco can be hired at a charge of £250, to play until 1:00am.  Special rates may apply for Bank Holidays, Christmas and New Year's Eve.  Alternatively, or in addition, we are happy to accommodate a disco or band of your choice.

Table Options
Top Table for up to 12 - 14 guests, with remaining guests seated on round tables.  Maximum of 12 guests per round table.

Linen
We provide white linen tablecloths and napkins.  We are able to arrange for you to have coloured linen at an additional charge.

Room Decoration
You are welcome to decorate your function room with flowers, candles, balloons etc.  Access time for decorating will be confirmed one week prior to your wedding.  However, our staff will be happy to put out table decorations on your behalf.  We are also happy to arrange these on your behalf at an additional charge.

Confetti
We do not permit confetti to be thrown within the hotel.

Accommodation
Complimentary accommodation is offered to the Bride and Groom on their wedding night in a Connoisseur bedroom, with a Champagne breakfast the following morning.  Preferential accommodation rates are also available for any guests wishing to stay the night.

Our Classic rooms are elegantly furnished and feature all the modern facilities you would expect from a luxury 4 star hotel.  Those who wish for a higher level of luxury will appreciate the superbly appointed Connoisseur rooms and all their upgraded amenities.

Leisure Facilities
Those guests who choose to stay will have the opportunity to enjoy the use of the hotel leisure facilities including heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam and fitness room.  Opening times are 6:45am - 10:00pm Monday - Friday and 7:30pm - 9:30pm Saturday and Sunday.  We can also offer the services of our in-house hairdressing and beauty salons.

Children
Children under 4 years of age are not charged.  Children aged 4 to 12 years are charged half price for a half portion size of the adult meal.  Alternatively you can select from our children's menu.

Are available on request.
