Location & Attractions|The Blue Bell RailwayThe Blue Bell Railway is a delightful heritage rail line that runs along the border from West Sussex to East Sussex. Built and restored to emanate a distinctly Victorian ambience, the peacefully Sussex countryside and the steam powered locomotives take you back to the 18th century. Originally when the Blue Bell Railway was started only 8 miles of track between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes was preserved. Today an extension from Horsted Keynes to Kingscote has been completed which includes the Sharpthorne Tunnel. The Sheffield Park Railway Station which is located near the Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick, a hotel that provides Gatwick Airport lodging can be easily accessed by our guests. This station was built in 1882 at the request of the Earl of Sheffield. Today the station is home to a Blue Bell Railway gift shop, A British Rail Museum and the Bessemer Arms Pub. The Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick with its origins in a renowned country house is located in 40 acres of delightful parkland. It is only minutes away from the Gatwick Airport and numerous local attractions. The hotel features elegantly appointed rooms, and long duration airport parking packages can be arranged. |
