Denbies Wine Estate
Location & Attractions|Denbies Wine EstateResearch in the area has revealed that vineyards had been in existence for nearly two millennia in Surrey and that the Romans had created a vineyard in 100 AD at Badgen’s Farm which is literally a stone’s throw from Denbies. The present owners had decided to plant vines on the land as they discovered that the area’s climate and soil were similar to Champagne in France. Today the Denbies Wine Estate produces some of the finest sparkling wine in Europe, winning the certification of the annual International Wine Challenge numerous times. The busy Denbies Visitor’s Centre sees the arrival of nearly 300,000 tourists a year. Located inside the historic Denby House the centre offers many entertaining activities for visitors. The Conservatory Restaurant allows for all weather al-fresco dining and a variety of culinary delights of the region as well as light salads and desserts. Other interesting places in the Denby House include the Gallery Restaurant which is one of the most interesting lunch venues in Surrey, the gift shop, the Kitchen Garden Centre and of course the wine cellar. Located in Surrey the Denbies Wine Estate is close to the Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick which is a great Gatwick Airport hotel with parking and a host of other facilities that will make your stay a comfortable and memorable one. |
