Reading hotel visitors will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the fascinating but complex subject of archaeology this year.

Discovering Archaeology opened at the Museum of Reading on May 3rd and will run until the beginning of August.

The exhibition focuses on Berkshire Archaeology, the organisation that provides archaeological advice to Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead, Bracknell Forest, Slough and Wokingham.

Visitors will be able to learn about how archaeologists go about unearthing the past, including the techniques that are used to record and protect the archaeologically significant items to be found on one's doorstep.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is a display of artefacts that have been excavated from local sites.

There is also an interactive display allowing visitors to explore Berkshire's sites and monuments records.
