Windsor Castle in South East England is one of the top 20 tourist attractions in the whole of Britain. Located in the English county of Berkshire, this castle's millennia of history makes it the oldest continuously inhabited castle in the world. Built during the time of William the Conqueror, this castle today is one of the official residences of the British Monarch. The Queen spends most weekends here and also uses it for State and private entertaining.

Over the last 1,000 years the design of Windsor Castle has changed in keeping with the tastes of successive monarchs. However central features of the castle remain unchanged, for example the Round Tower at the centre of the Castle still stands at the site of the original wooden castle built by the Norman William the Conqueror.

Surrounding the castle are the calming environs of Home Park, which is made up of functioning farms and extensive parkland. Also adjoining the castle is the 17th century Frogmore Estate which is open to the public at certain times of the year; the Home Park also borders the Great Park a 5,000 acre deer park which was once the private hunting grounds of Windsor Castle.

The visitor's tour of the castle will enable you to marvel at some of the finest architectural work in Britain and also to appreciate the elegant interior furnishings and works of art from the Royal Collection on show in the State Appartments. St. George's Chapel and the miniature Queen Mary's Dolls' House are also part of a visit to the Castle.

The Copthorne Hotel Slough Windsor one of the hotels in Windsor UK, puts you in touch with the happenings at this historic royal abode and gives you a firsthand glimpse into British culture.
