The city of Glasgow will be a hub of cultural celebration over the coming months as it hosts two major festivals.

First up for Glasgow hotel visitors will be the West End Festival, which will start on June 13th and come to an end on June 29th.

This event is billed as "a street party with a difference", featuring everything from music, theatre and film to parades, exhibitions and comedy shows.

Last year's festival was a resounding success, with more than 39,000 people attending the 358 events, and the 2008 outing is expected to be even more popular.

The West End Festival will have some competition for the interest of the city's visitors when the Glasgow International Jazz Festival opens on June 20th, running until June 29th.

This musical celebration is now in its 21st year and includes a varied main programme as well as a number of fringe events that take place throughout the city.
