Glasgow hotel visitors will be able to explore the history of the Scottish city through the lens of dozens of photographers at a special exhibition this year.

The show, called Glasgow 1955: Through a Lens, features the work of people who took part in a city-wide survey of Glasgow in that year.

A total of 86 people participated in the initiative and the exhibition, which will be based at the People's Palace and Winter Gardens, will include a number of images that will be published in a new book.

Many of the photographs evoke a city on the brink of change, with rationing having come to an end in 1954, trams beginning to run across the city but horses and carts still a common sight.

Images include women doing washing in Partick Steamie and shots of the River Clyde during its heyday.

Glasgow hotel visitors will also be able to see Your Ocean, a travelling exhibition from the National Maritime Museum, which will be based at the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour until June 1st.

This interactive display focuses on topics including energy, sustainability and climate change in relation to the ocean.
