News|Visitors to flow into Glasgow for River FestivalGlasgow hotel visitors will be celebrating all things maritime this summer at the city's annual River Festival. This event will take place on July 19th-20th at a number of venues, including the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and the Glasgow Science Centre. Events will take place between 10:00 and 18:00 on each day, celebrating the past, present and possible future of Glasgow's famous waterfront and its nautical culture. A number of visiting tall ships will dock in the city's harbour for visitors to marvel over, while Glasgow's very own large vessel, the Glenlee, will be open for free for this weekend only. More than 85,000 people attended the 2007 River Festival and it is set to be even more popular this year. The River Clyde is one of Glasgow's most famous features, occupying a significant place in history as it was an important location for shipbuilding and trade in the British empire. |
