News|The Unthanks preparing to wow Glasgow hotel guestsThe stunningly talented Northumbrian sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank have been drawing critical acclaim since they burst onto the scene with their debut album The Bairns in 2007 which saw them nominated for a Mercury Music Prize. Backed by a ten-piece band, their second album, Here's The Tender Coming, reinforced their status as the country's leading traditional folk band. The first musicians to perform clog dancing on the Jools Holland show, the prodigiously talented musicians take folk music back to its roots with their haunting vocals. Having recently released an album covering the songs of Robert Wyatt and Antony Hegarty, the show at The Old Fruitmarket will see them perform the music from this latest album. Support for the concert will come in the form of the spine-tinglingly harmonious Scottish group The Bevvy Sisters. The Unthanks and The Bevvy Sisters perform at the Old Fruitmarket on Tuesday January 24th. Tickets cost £16 and doors open at 8pm. Book your stay at the Millennium Hotel Glasgow ![]() 16/12/2011 |
