News|Gallery looks at Colombian photographyLondon's Photographers' Gallery is presenting an exhibition this year dedicated to recent photography from Colombia. The display, called Once More, With Feeling, explores a number of themes that are incorporated into each artist's work, including memory, repetition and performance. Through their photographs, the artists look at a variety of aspects of life in Colombia, from violent conflict to youth culture and the country's sense of humour. One of the participating photographers is Maria Elvira Escallon, whose installation serves as a memorial to the 36 people who lost their lives in a nightclub bombing in the capital city of Bogota. Juan Manual Echavarria exhibits a number of video pieces, including recordings of songs composed by country folk who were displaced by violent and disruptive events. London hotel visitors can see the exhibition at the Photographers' Gallery, which is on Great Newport Street, until June 15th. Book your stay at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington |
