The Millennium Gloucester Hotel and Conference Centre, London Kensington has undergone a major refurbishment to its meeting and events facilities.

The Conference Centre incorporates a contemporary Eastern design based on the Ying-Yang philosophy of the five natural elements fire, water, earth, wood and gold. The use of natural materials and water features, excite the senses while creating a feeling of space and harmony.

The suite names (Sentosa, Orchard, Changi, Marina and Jurong) compliment the design and are derived from landmarks within Singapore and its Islands, parks and nature reserves. Sentosa (meaning peace and tranquility) is one of the largest conference rooms, and is named after a beautiful tropical island resort and Nature Park situated minutes from the City of Singapore.

Orchard, the other largest banqueting space imitates the famous ‘Orchard Road’ in Singapore, the equivalent of London’s ‘Bond Street’. Renowned for its luxury shopping, restaurants and buzzing environment, the interior design of the Orchard suite reflects the eventful theme.  The design has been done on a grand scale with opulent chandeliers and colourful art installations creating a theatre like presence.

Orchard and Sentosa now offer improved facilities which include: 10mb SDSL broadband, Wi-Fi with ethernet ports, new VDUs, screening facilities and intelligent lighting, complimented by a contemporary food and beverage menu. 17,000 sq.ft of event and meetings space has been refurbished at a total cost of £3 million.

“Our aim through the refurbishment is to offer our clients a varied choice of spaces to hold a ceremony or a glittering champagne reception, guests can now opt for a more traditional English style function room or a contemporary Eastern design,” says Andrew Tan, Director of the Millennium Conference Centre.

143 standard bedrooms have been renovated at a cost of £2 million in conjunction with the conference centre project. These rooms have an emphasis on simplicity and design with the look and feel of a modern home, using natural colours to encourage the guests to enjoy the calm and peace of the space. All rooms have high-speed Internet access, modern bathrooms with art deco fixtures and the latest in entertainment systems.

The Millennium Conference Centre is based within the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in the heart of Kensington, just south of Hyde Park and in close proximity to many of London’s major attractions including the Natural History, Victoria & Albert, Science Museums, Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace.
