About Kensington|Gain a world of experiences in KensingtonThe London borough of Kensington serves as a perfect base for the many thousands of people that visit the capital city every year, largely owing to the way in which it combines the buzz of busy modern life and culture with myriad opportunities to relax and unwind. Kensington is known as one of the capital's most popular and vibrant districts, so offers its visitors a taste of the excitement of modern London, but is also home to some of the city's major sources of culture and history. People who would like to experience the unique blend of experiences that Kensington offers will find few better locations to serve as their temporary home than the Millennium Bailey's Hotel, in the heart of the borough. One of the first ports of call for many visitors is London's Science Museum, an establishment that is world-renowned for its historic collections, fascinating galleries and stunning exhibitions. Hundreds of thousands of objects, which are sure to mesmerise any visitor, are included in the Science Museum's collections, with particular strengths in the history of western science, technology and medicine since 1700. This year, the Science Museum will be hosting a particularly topical exhibition that will focus on climate change and considering what needs to be done to save the world. Another major attraction of the Science Museum is its Imax 3D cinema, which this year will be screening a variety of films to fascinate adults and children alike. Among them is the Deep Sea 3D show, which will take viewers on an underwater adventure, and the Dinosaurs Alive! film exploring the fascinating world in which dinosaurs lived. Once visitors have had their fill of expanding their mind and discovering the world of science, there are few better ways to unwind that with some entertainment, and few more thrilling places to enjoy a music concert than the Royal Albert Hall. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be entertaining visitors to the Royal Albert Hall with a packed schedule of performances this year, including a Great English Composers recital on April 6th. This will include versions of Vaughan Williams' The Wasps Overture, Edward Elgar's Sea Pictures and Michael Tippet's A Child of Our Time. Film buffs should not miss the orchestra's Filmharmonic event on May 9th, when it will celebrate music from movies ranging from timeless classics to modern blockbusters. Of course if neither the Science Museum nor the Royal Albert Hall appeal to one's tastes, the borough of Kensington can always be relied upon to offer countless opportunities for shopping. Kensington High Street is often seen as a slightly quieter alternative to Oxford Street and a cheaper option than Knightsbridge. It is home to popular fashion stores including River Island, Gap and Jigsaw, and also provides an opportunity to consider some new footwear purchases at Nine West or Kurt Geiger. Once the day is over, Kensington visitors will not have to go far to find some ideal spots to relax, with both Hyde Park and Holland Park nearby. Holland Park is often frequented by couples, who enjoy the romantic flavour of its abundant wildlife and quiet spots. Whatever it may be the London visitors are looking for – knowledge, culture, shopping or
relaxation – Kensington provides it all in a chic and luxurious setting.
