News|Tate Modern exhibition has art fans going dotty at London hotelsThe 82-year-old Japanese artist began life in rural Japan and has ended up a mainstay of the New York art scene. Having spent almost 35 years living voluntarily in a psychiatric institution, much of Kusama's work addresses issues surrounding obsession, trauma and escape and her installations create incredibly immersive visions. One of Japan's most prominent contemporary artists, her paintings, drawings, sculpture and even film and performance installations are all equally charged with her unique vision. The Tate Modern exhibition is the biggest collection of her work the UK has ever seen, with a diverse range of works on display in what promises to be a truly unmissable show.
