The Royal Albert Hall is an art venue with a long tradition behind it. Originally opened by Queen Victoria in 1871, the hall has been the venue for numerous events since its inception ranging from the typical to the unusual.

The reason for the construction of this hall stems back to Prince Albert’s enthusiasm regarding the Great Exhibition of 1851. Since the event was such a resounding success, the Prince decided that a permanent structure was to be built to serve the purpose of enlightening the public.

Prince Albert died however before he could see his construction come to fruition, and it was for this reason that Queen Victoria renamed the structure in his honour. The hall it had originally been decided was to be called The Central Hall of Arts and Sciences.

Classical concerts, award ceremonies, charity performances, rock and pop events as well as tennis matches have all been held here. Musical performances include many greats such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Led Zepplin, and ABBA.

Musical performers aren’t the only greats who have graced this venue with their presence. The hall has seen the likes of former tennis champions such as Pete Sampras and John McEnroe who brought their masterful games to this historic venue. Each year the BlackRock Tennis Masters tournament is held at Royal Albert Hall.
Another tradition that has been upheld over the years has been the BBC Proms concert.

The hall also hosts several art exhibits that are free for members of the public to access. The themes of these exhibitions are varied and are constantly changing. Also on offer is the Royal Albert Hall Gift Shop which presents a selection of gifts and souvenirs that includes mugs and t-shirts along with several other items.

Visitors to The Royal Albert Hall can also sample a range of cuisines at the three food outlets that are present in the hall. The Elgar Room Restaurant provides dining facilities, while Coda Restaurant offers a bar like experience. Café Consort offers a variety of bites and snacks as well as some main and side dishes as well.
