The West End in London is located in the city of Westminster and was the preferred residence to many of London’s elite. Today the area is home to art galleries, museums, embassies, educational institutions, places of entertainment and numerous shops. This venue is frequented by over 15 million people each year and cumulatively the area is home to a large amount of the attractions that are housed in the city of London.

Theatre is one of the strongest influences you will find in the West End. More than the sheer number of theatres in the area visitors will be impressed by the standards of the plays which are staged here as they have been ranked along with those on Broadway as being the world’s best English speaking productions.

The West End is the home of Grosvenor Square, Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park corner.
Visitors to Grosvenor Square can find numerous memorials and landmarks related to the United States due to this venue being used by several American leaders as a base of operations and a residence.

Trafalgar Square is another area in West End that pays homage to historical figures of the past such as Admiral Horatio who died at the Battle of Trafalgar which the square itself is named after. The central attraction here is Nelsons’ Column that features a statue of the Admiral at its peak and is guarded by four stone lions at its base.

A plethora of shopping options is present in the West End as the three premier shopping streets are located here; Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street. Together these three streets present everything from bargain shopping to some of the most prestigious items the world has to offer. Shoppers coming to London are sure to find practically everything they could ever need.

The West End also houses some of Hyde Park’s many attractions including Speakers Corner. This area features a time honoured tradition where members of the public can stand up and discuss their views on politics and religion whilst members from the audience are free to challenge their viewpoints.

To take advantage of the many opportunities on offer in this prestigious and vibrant area, visitors should reside in a London hotel. The West End and everything it offers is easily accessible for guests who choose to stay at Millennium Hotel London Knightsbridge as it is located only a short distance away.
