2006 X Factor runner up Ray Quinn is to make his West End debut as a guest performer in the smash hit musical Grease.

Ray who lost to high flying singer Leona Lewis is to appear for a limited period in the show at the West End's Piccadilly Theatre from June 16th to November 15th.

The 19-year-old who is to play Thunderbird Doody said this was a dream come true for him.

He said: "It's always been one of my dreams. I can't wait."

Ray managed to salvage something from his failed bid to win the show, releasing his platinum selling album Doing It My Way followed by a television appearance in TV drama Brookside.

Grease celebrates its 15th anniversary in the West End this year. A 1979 film version of the 1972 Broadway musical launched John Travolta's career. Olivia Newton-John also starred in the film.
